Painting and Decorating

Painting and decorating is a process that starts with assessing the work to be done and deciding on the best way of doing it, taking budget into account.

Thorough preparation of the workplace and surfaces is essential and will be reflected in the end result.

Be wary of accepting quotes that are too low, you’ll often find that the preparation isn’t done well – resulting in poor quality work. Sometimes, if surfaces are poorly prepared, the finish will look ok, but will rapidly deteriorate – meaning that you’ll have to have the work re-done.


At Mark Cooper Painting and Decorating we take great care to make sure the preparation is first class so you can be assured of an excellent, long lasting finish.

We only use the highest quality brushes and rollers, it makes a difference to how your property will look.

Where possible, we use the best paints available. Saving money on paint is false economy as once again the finish will not be as good and will deteriorate quicker. Cheap paint also covers less well, so for example you might need 3 coats instead of two.

Exterior Painting
Painting the exterior of a property is obviously somewhat weather dependent unless the property can be protected against the elements.  Rain is a problem but excessively hot or cold days are not the best times to paint outdoors either.

We always attempt to paint exteriors when there’s a ‘weather window’ that’s suitable.

Interior Painting
Our customers usually choose interior colour schemes and wallpapers themselves – if you’re unsure, we’ll happily offer our advice.

Spray Painting
When painting large areas, particularly for commercial work we will spray paint rather than use rollers or brush. Excellent finishes can be achieved and the time savings are considerable.

Wallpaper Hanging
If you’ve ever tried to hang wallpaper yourself and ended up wearing your wall covering or with mismatched patterns, or poor finishes around windows and doors, you’ll know that it’s not as easy as we make it look. In particular ceilings are tricky to do as are high ceilings and stairwells. We have vast amounts of experience in hanging all types of wallpaper in every situation imaginable.

Coving
Plaster mouldings are become increasingly popular for adding detail to walls or ceilings. We can supply and fit many different designs of ceiling roses, cornices and dados.

Artexing
If you suffer from cracked walls or ceilings, artexing can solve your problems and at the same time  give you a beautiful decorative finish which is virtually maintenance free.

Decorating Ceilings
The twin factors of height and gravity make decorating ceilings one of the trickiest painting and decorating jobs. At Mark Cooper Painters and Decorators we have lots of experience in decorating ceilings and can cope with the most difficult of ceiling work.

Gloss Painting Windows and Doors
Gloss paint gives you a wonderful, clean and shiny finish but can be a nightmare to do yourself, it’s one of those areas where there really is no substitute for experience. Thorough preparation, the right paint and brush, clever use of masking tape and a steady hand are all needed.
